Emotional stress

“I began treatment with Stephanie during a period of stress after having gone through two miscarriages in the previous 6 months which brought on emotional strain, physical pain and tension. It was mid-winter and I seemed to be coming down with every winter cold one after another. Having had previous experience with acupuncture, I decided again to seek treatment to help me get through this relatively difficult period. During my first treatment with Stephanie, it seemed I could barely talk without crying as I felt so much emotional turmoil and anxiety. Stephanie was very supportive and positive while going over all the information asked of those seeking acupuncture, quality of sleep, dietary and lifestyle habits, family relationships, sources of stress, health concerns, and a range of other questions that are asked of new patients. Stephanie was very thorough and supportive, and while the intake interview was long, she was able to give me a short needle treatment and some herbal “tea pills”. I immediately experienced tremendous initial relief from not only being able to discuss my situation, but from the quick initial treatment and following some of her suggestions for self-care. I then continued to receive follow-up treatments over the course of 2-3 months. I experienced continuing relief of both physical and mental problems and while I continued to suffer from many winter-season colds, I got to the point in the spring where I felt so much better I discontinued treatment. Since that time, I have continued to practice the advice given to me and had very good physical and mental health. I would say that acupuncture is very effective for a range of issues; in the past it helped me with infertility (I conceived and carried twins!) and then more recently with Stephanie, it helped me with acute mental stress and anxiety and physical pain. I loved my course of treatment with Stephanie because I was able to talk openly and honestly about my life situation, emotions and problems and to feel safe and supported and never judged. She is a very compassionate and insightful person, and her treatments were very gentle and brought me good physical health and a feeling of well-being.” — S.T.
